Fats and EFA

Fats and essential fatty acids

As with proteins, fats are made up of a large number of fatty acids. Some of these fatty acids (lauric, myristic, palmitic, stearic, etc.) may be created by the cat during digestion. However, 3 fatty acids (one ω3 : α-linolenic acid and two ω6 : linoleic and arachidonic acid) have to be found in the cat’s food ration. These are called essential fatty acids. A mix of animal and vegetable fats (duck fat, soy oil and above all linseed oil, etc.) in very precise proportions allows the mastery PRO range to give foods that are rich and balanced in essential fatty acids.
