Minerals

The foods in the mastery PRO range contain all the minerals (calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium chloride, potassium) that cats need, in the correct amounts and proportions.

CALCIUM + PHOSPHORUS

As far as calcium and phosphorus are concerned, various parameters have to be considered to ensure good growth and ideal bone tissue condition :

  • digestibility %, depending on the source of the calcium and phosphorus, should be maximum (over 90 % in mastery PRO foods),
  • the amount of food ingested and therefore the amount of calcium and phosphorus digested should be enough to cover the cat’s needs,
  • lastly, the calcium/phosphorus Ca/P ratio should vary according to age and physiological condition.

SODIUM, POTASSIUM, CHLORINE

Sodium, potassium and chlorine are the most abundant in the organism after calcium and phosphorus. These minerals, in the good proportion, have a prevention role of certain nutritional diseases (dehydration, neuromuscular troubles, carbohydrates and proteins malabsorption, growth backwardness, appetite decrease, etc). Cats being particularly sensitive to these diseases, mastery veterinary-nutritionists pay a special attention to the quantities and balance between these three minerals.

Salt should never be excessive (which can be “tempting” because salt is not expensive and artificially increases the palability of foods and watering) as it would rapidly become toxic. This is why mastery PRO nutritionists “sprinkle” salt in very precise measures.
